Abraxas picked up the rights from Warner Brothers and licensed
the film to a tiny independent who re-released it under the mantle
of Summerisle Film in the mid-70s, and it is this version that is the
official 'general' release, albeit on an extremely small scale.
Abraxas regained the rights and released a 'restored' version of
the film in 1980 using Miller's original poster design, but with a
review from the Boston Globe instead of the tag line upper left and
their own credit lower right.
This Summerisle Film first 'general' release one sheet is by far the
rarest of all the US posters for the film as they were produced in
such small numbers and the later Abraxas re-release is often
incorrectly listed as the original.
